Categories group related products together. They keep the POS tidy and make your sales reports far more useful.

Why use categories

  • Faster selling — cashiers find items quickly by category on the POS.
  • Clearer reporting — see which types of products sell best, not just individual items.

Manage categories

Open Categories

Select Categories from the sidebar.

Add a category

Click New category, give it a name (e.g. “Drinks”, “Bakery”), and save.

Assign products

Set a product’s category when you create or edit it under Products.
Keep your category list short and meaningful. A handful of broad categories is easier to sell from and report on than dozens of overlapping ones.
